Retrofitting into a garden that already exists
Most work through King City, Aurora and Vaughan goes into properties that were landscaped years ago. Nothing is a blank lawn: there are established beds, mature trees with root plates you cannot trench through, stonework, and lighting cable already in the ground.
That changes the method more than the design. Lines get pulled rather than dug wherever the ground allows, routes go around root zones rather than through them, and the layout is walked and marked with you before anything is opened up.
Mature planting waters differently from new planting
A twenty-year-old tree and a first-season shrub bed want completely different amounts of water, and a system that treats an established garden like a new one either drowns half of it or starves the rest.
On a property with real planting, zoning by what is growing matters more than zoning by which side of the house it is on.
Ongoing service, not just the install
Several of the properties we look after down here we have been servicing for years: spring startups, fall blowouts, and the occasional head taken out by a mower. That is the normal shape of the relationship rather than a one-off job.
Whole yards, not only the parts under them
